Historic rainfalls. Worsening wildfires. Record temperatures. If it feels like you’ve been hearing these words in the news more frequently, it’s not for nothing: this is climate change in action. And more than individuals, businesses will need to change how they operate to slow it down.

“If companies respond to climate change only to the extent that it threatens their own profits, their own private incentives, then they’re not going to be doing enough,” says Meghan Busse, an associate professor of strategy who looks at energy economics.

To make any kind of difference, Busse says significant changes must be made in three different areas: electricity, transportation, and industry and agriculture. But we’ll have to mix business and politics to get there.

In this episode of The Insightful Leader, Busse explains what it will take to reach a zero-carbon future.
