The Insightful Leader Live: Making Sense of America’s Prescription Drug Market

Why is the American prescription drug market so … confusing? Americans pay a lot for drugs, both individually and collectively. Yet medically necessary drugs remain out of reach for many patients, and critical medications always seem to be in short supply. Meanwhile, Florida is keen to import drugs from Canada. Is something about America’s pharmaceutical market broken? In this webinar, healthcare economist Amanda Starc will answer your questions about all things prescription drugs. She’ll also offer her take on how to build a healthier market.

Amanda Starc is an Associate Professor of Strategy at the Kellogg School of Management and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Dr. Starc's research interests include industrial organization and health economics. Her research examines the Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, and Medicare Supplement ("Medigap") markets, as well as consumer behavior in insurance exchanges.
